Chet is back, bless his cat breeding heart. FINALLY we renewed his contract to do whatever it is he does in the government environment for allegedly cheaper and more efficiently than half a government employee. The half that wears diaphragm-high tan sansabelt dockers and a cat whistle.
Right now Chet's talking to someone on the phone, calling him (or her) 'Sir' in his defferential cat loving way and speaking adoringly of what a great guy Steve Jobs IS,
"I admire the man, I have to say. He has done so much. So much..."
Chet likes to repeat the last part of his sentences. I suppose he picked that up from his Fancy Cats. He breeds them and shows them, as I've mentioned earlier. I don't even think that he's a big drinker/paint huffer. If I were a cat enthusiast I would fucking have to be also into white liquor and cleaning solvents. No doubt. And I like to think hard candies aged to teeth cracking perfection. Chet just seems to like Steve Jobs, cats, and the ends of sentences.
"Steve Jobs will never let Microsoft catch up, that's for sure...for sure."
I don't think Chet knows that Steve Jobs is dead. Whatever space Chet occupied these last months - year plus, during his government dormancy...did not include news of the world, apparently. It's like they dusted him off and put him and his First Place Cat Show ribbons back into his cubicle. It's still October 2010 in Chet's mind.
Whoever is on the other end of his call, this 'Sir' fellow (or madam) is not breaking it to him. Maybe ALL NERDS believe that Steve Jobs is STILL ALIVE?
"Every year I go to that tech conference down in California and think maybe I'll see him, but I know that's crazy...crazy..."
(BUT BREEDING CATS ISN'T?! ) ISN'T?)
"I would love to meet him and thank him for letting his products use Firefox..."
Or maybe Chet thinks Steve Jobs has nine lives. Maybe he has a little outfit he'd like to give him.
I am going to create a Steve Jobs gmail account and email Chet thanking him for his interest in my company. Tell him that I hope to meet him soon, but not too soon. Thank him for "believing" in "me"...
I'm glad that he's back. Glad he's back.
You have to get Chet to end a sentence with the word "echo," just for the effect.
That's gonna be awesome. Awesome.
